Nordic Knitting with Cecilie Telle, Arne & Carlos and Annemor Sundbø

A series of talks from Scandinavian textile designers and makers. Cecilie Telle shares her craft stories, creating striking knitted and felted woollen goods; Arne & Carlos talk about their work preserving the iconic craft of Norwegian knitwear and Annemor Sundbø shares her experiences as a woven textile designer and teacher.

Cecilie Telle
Cecilie Telle is a knitter and felt maker, a designer and teacher. A maker of functional and practical items out of wool. All products are hand made in London using the best quality wool, all made by hand by Cecilie.

Arne & Carlos
Scandinavians Arne Nerjordet and Carlos Zachrisson are highly regarded designers, textile artists and authors. They are best known for their original, colourful and visually striking designs as well as their books. Their work is highly influenced by their Scandinavian background and their everyday life in rural Norway. They work under their artist name ARNE & CARLOS, which they established in 2001.

Annemor Sundbø
Annemor Sundbø
is a textile designer and teacher of weaving. She owns and operates a knitting workshop ”Ose Ullvare” in Setesdal, about 110 km from Kristiansand, Norway.

She ran the last remaining shoddy factory in Norway, Torridal Tweed og Ulldynefabrikk, from 1993 to 2006. The products were made of recycled wool. It all started in 1983 when Annemor wanted some experience in a small scale woollen mill. The owner agreed to train her on one condition… Annemor had to buy the factory! The storage bins were a treasure trove of knitting patterns and cultural history. Annemor unravelled the fascinating history of traditional knitting by investigating a pile of knitted rags. This rag pile reveals the close historical ties between everyday knitting in Norway and traditional knitting in Europe.

She lectures internationally and teaches spinning, folk art embroidery, and knitting design and she publishes on topics related to Norwegian knitting.
